to tell you the truth , i've never actually get the saying
"hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri, lebih baik di negeri sendiri".
i mean like, how could u ever say hujan batu is better than hujan emas?
i used to take it very literally, yela macam. emas beb! emas! haha
i was like, oh maybe sebab emas tu berat then kalau hujan emas boleh mengakibatkan kecederaan yang melampau..? tapi in the end ada emas. hujan batu ada apa? ujung2 jadi air je.
so actually i used to think hujan emas di negeri orang , lebih baik dari hujan batu dinegeri sendiri. like duh pastilah. haha jahat gila aku ni :P
tp im glad to say that that was then. now i totally get the saying. sadly thou, i cant explain it to you. it is a feeling , that i can't describe. maybe in a simpler way i can say it is the sense of belonging.
thou i really like the phrase we belong to geelong. haha
n better still, i get/understood the saying through experience.
somehow i am kind of grateful i didnt really get the meaning (like the actual meaning of this peribahasa/simpulan bahasa) while i was still in school.
or else i might not have this kind of appreciation / overwhelming feeling of finally getting the real meaning of the peribahasa.
being here, sometimes i hear people say things like , oh Malaysia tak de pon macam ni, Malaysia tak de pon macam tu, n stuffs.
but i think, yea Malaysia maybe x de ni n x de tu, but then again, Malaysia's not THAT bad.
i mean yes, we have our unresolved traffic problems, n some other things that i think would be better left unsaid. haha
but its not all these big things. its the little things that makes u appreciate your home.
like the pasar malam
that small bicycle route u took with your big brother to get home once when u were little
that chinese shop that sells comics and your little brother always ask you to accompany him to
that wet market you go with your parents on weekend mornings
the 7-eleven shop in your neighborhood which doesnt sell liqour
that shopping mall Warta where you get your daily stuffs
the sardine-packed commuters which you used to despise getting on
that area near the girls' hostel with a line of lush green trees and the small field next to it where the girls play netball or hockey in the evening
the school hall with the phrase "disinilah lahirnya pemimpin yang bertanggungjawab" on its wall
the dewan makan where u always "ask" for extra tembikai on your tray
that route u took when u went to netball practice that you joined by accident
that Olympic sized swimming pool that you dont have to pay to get into
that mamak stall where u went with ur guy friends to watch final match between man u n chelsea
that same mamak stall u went everytime ur done swimming with ur friends
IKEA's FOODCOURT with the daims and meatballs
kubur and the big screened tv where u went to eat with ur girlfriends at night
OU's cinema
Giant Wangsa Maju
JJ Wangsa Maju
the vacant shop lot under the office where u used to do ur internship
Sunway Pyramid
Burger King KLCC
to some readers, perhaps restoren Pak Li with the famous nasi ayam lemon which i have not yet tasted
and the famous ABC section 2 shah alam. [if im not mistaken]
i can go on and on about this. to some of u these little things may not hold any significance. but to me, it is these little things that i appreciate and makes Malaysia, home
x kesah la Malaysia x de ni ke x de tu ke, Malaysia is still unique in her own way
penting ke video clip ni? haha rindu Malaysia la wehh!
